Titre | Lorenzo Uggetti, Eponymous Priesthood of Ptolemaic Alexandria from the Jouguet Collection at Sorbonne University. |
Publication | SEP 19 (2022) pp. 83-95. |
Résumé | Takes stock of all attestations of the eponymous priesthood within the Jouguet collection at Sorbonne University, in both published and unpublished texts known up to now. Pierre Jouguet discovered more than 300 pieces of papyrus cartonnage in 1901-1902 in the Fayyumic cemeteries of Ghôran and Magdôla, from which several Ptolemaic documents in Ancient Greek and Egyptian Demotic script were extracted. Dating formulae of four legal agreements bear witness to the existence of eponymous sacerdotal titles without disclosing the identity of the persons in charge, whereas both the names and the patronyms of the latter are revealed by eleven other papyri. The survey includes texts purchased by Jouguet on the Egyptian antiquity market in Hêrakleopolis Magna / Ihnasya el-Medina and el-Lahun, as well as a document acquired by him, but whose provenance is lost. |
